CC Mike

By Caroline

Crew McLovin worked in Dillon, CO this week with Denver Water. Our main goal of the week was to remove all the dangerous barbed wire surrounding the Dillon Reservoir in order to keep elk from hurting themselves on it! Honestly I was intimidated when I heard the words "barbed wire." All I could think about was getting all cut up; however, we showed that barbed wire who was boss. Our crew went to town removing the stressed wire starting on Monday, and by Thursday a lot of it was packed onto the trailer and sent back to Denver Water HQ. Not only did our project help to save the wildlife, but local hikers, bikers, and dog walkers continued to thank us for removing the fencing. Apparently, a lot of outdoor/wildlife lovers have gotten cut up by it too!!! Due to the fact that we completed our main project by Thursday, on Friday we weeded along the edge of the reservoir, taking out any plant life that could clog up the dam.

Lots and lots of weeds.

I am so lucky to be part of such a cool crew! This week we created our crew contract; incorporating the agreement to share our passions with each other. I am looking forward to expanding my passions and interests by learning from everyone. So far there are a few things for sure about our rocking McLovin crew:

- For one; we all love food (a little too much)

- For two; by the end of the summer we will all be advanced swing dancers

- And for three; we are all hardworking, great spirited individuals and I am so excited to spend the rest of my summer with this family.
